“FAKE GOSPEL NEWS”

“FAKE GOSPEL NEWS

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.”
2 Timothy 4:3-4 - NKJV

The expression “fake news” is trendy right now. But did you know that there are some expressions that we hear often which are considered part of the Bible or in agreement with it, which are actually completely false, wrong or even a heretic thought?
Let’s consider some of them, and check what the Bible itself says about it:

1.    “I AM THE OWNER OF MY LIFE AND I DO WITH IT WHATEVER I WANT”
Actually, you are not the owner of your life. The Bible affirms that we not only were created by God, but ”we do not belong to ourselves.” In fact, we will be held accountable for every single thing we say and do while in this body. Therefore, we don’t “own” anything, much less ourselves, we are absolutely dependent on God, from our first to last breath.

2. “DO YOUR PART AND I WILL HELP YOU”
The truth is: we cannot do our part by ourselves. We can try, but we will always need the Lord. In fact, the Lord always helps us, but He does it out of grace and love, and not because He has an obligation towards it. Yes, the Lord rewards us for our efforts, but sometimes the feeling of “trading” with the Lord becomes a practice that is not backed up by Scriptures. The only commitment the Lord has is with His own Word. The reality is: the Lord will always do His part, even if we fail on doing ours. As Scripture says: “He will remain faithful, even if we are unfaithful.”

3. “THE VOICE OF THE PEOPLE IS THE VOICE OF GOD”
No, the voice of the people is NOT the voice of God, the Bible is the voice of God! Countless times we can see that: when the Jewish people cried “Crucify Him”, they were not being the voice of God; when any mob assaults, kills and loots, no matter how many do it, they are not the voice of God. In fact, the multitudes are more often wrong than right. As I said: the Bible and its eternal and unchangeable principles, that is the revelation, the will and the voice of God.

4. “EVERY SIN IS THE SAME”
Sins are part of our sinful nature, unfortunately. They do have different consequences, but there is one particular category of sin that indeed is different: the unconfessed sin. Like David writes, unconfessed sins “cause our bones to rotten, it robs our joy”, it causes emotional, psychological and physical diseases. That’s why Scriptures teach us to confess our sins to the Lord, Who is “faithful to forgive us and purify us from all injustice.”

5. “EVERY CHRISTIAN IS A HYPOCRITE”
That is a classic one, and it goes side by side with “every pastor is a thief.” Even though there are fake people everywhere, including in Christian organizations, to generalize and place everybody on the same plate is judgemental and unfair. That concept is valid not only for Christians, but for every institution in the world. Our role is not to judge and to wait until the Day where “the wheat will be separated from the tares” by the Lord Himself, and for that, He Who knows the hearts of men, does not need our help at all.

6.  “EVERYTHING WILL END IN THIS LIFE”
This is probably the biggest mistake, the mother of all fake news created in the hallways of hell, because the weight and consequences of eternity lay on it. The time we spent in this life is absolutely nothing compared to eternity. The other side is what really matters, and it is our decision whether to spend eternity with, or without the Lord Jesus Christ, because regardless of us agreeing or not, this life is just the beginning, and a very fragile moment.

I hope you may live your life based upon the truths of the Word of God, and not by the ones fabricated by men, who really “do not know the difference between right and wrong.”

Wishing many blessings to you and your family!
