“ECHOING IN THE CHAOS"

“ECHOING IN THE CHAOS"

Beloved Unchained Family and friends:

In Proverbs 31:8-9 we read:

8 Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.
9 Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.

We are living tumultuous times, indeed. The United States of America faces today not only an increasing wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, but also an escalation of intolerance, violence, depredation, looting and riots that now also feature the destruction of public monuments. All of that, jumbled with a recent earthquake and the watching of part of major cities being taken by “protesters”, in a clear sign of lawlessness and disrespect against all the constituted authorities. All of these events must provoke some pondering in all of us, and mainly, in the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.

In the passage mentioned above, the Bible says that “those who cannot speak and the destitute must have a voice”. But how can the Church be heard in this anarchic environment? I believe part of the answer is in 1 Timothy 3:15, that says: “the Church of the living God is the pillar and ground of the truth”.

The voice that needs to be loudly echoed in this chaos is the voice of the proclamation of the truth, the spreading of the good news of the Gospel.

It’s noteworthy that the same expression “ground of the truth” in this verse can be translated as “bulwark”, or “barricade”, which means the Church is this place of refuge and protection in uncertain times because it holds the eternal and immutable message of the Gospel, and announces the One Who is the Truth Himself; for truly, the real truth is not in Republican, Democratic or Independent parties, the truth and the answer for all of this is not in an Institution, or in the Press that is not exempt of bias and clearly plays, every single day, favoritism and bigotry according to its own interests and beliefs. No, the truth is a Divine Person: the Lord Jesus Christ, and the liberating freedom that comes from knowing Him and living under His will!

We, the Church, Ambassadors of Heaven on earth, we, people of God with the message of reconciliation, must continue echoing that we know the way to the truth, even in the midst of chaos. That is how we can be a voice and shelter for all the speechless and destitute, no matter if they are white, black, yellow, red, rich or poor. We are the voice of Heaven!

Wishing many blessings to you and your family,
Pr. Joshua
