INSTANT DECISION-MAKING

“INSTANT DECISION-MAKING”

“If you do not save your life tonight, tomorrow you will be killed.”
1 Samuel 19:11 - NKJV

The Bible tells us a story of when Jesus had to make a decision about a woman who was about to be stoned by her accusers. Even though Jesus took some time to reflect on what to say to them, and then to her, His answer was prompt and changed forever that woman’s life. Jesus knew that some matters of life and death cannot wait.

The text we chose today is talking about Jesus’ ancestor, king David, who in that particular moment, had to make a rapid decision that would represent life or death as well, when his father-in-law Saul was persecuting him.

We can also remember several instances when people had to move fast in order to save their own lives, like the apostle Paul, when was being persecuted because of Jesus, had to be taken down in a hurry in a basket, also in the middle of the night, fleeing from his enemies in Damascus, Syria, in the beginning of his ministry; and it also comes to mind when Joseph and Mary were guided by the Lord to flee to Egypt to spare young Jesus’ life from the fury of king Herod.

Sometimes life simply can’t wait, and however thinking and reflection should be a rule of thumb in our lives, there are some moments where instant decisions will be the very difference between life and death.

From all the determinations someone can make, the most important of all is to surrender completely to the lordship of Jesus Christ and live for Him, because in that decision lies the reality of whether or not someone will live or die. Let’s choose life, right now.

Wishing many blessings to you and your family!
